Dr. Amat-Santos did his training as cardiologist in the “Hospital Clínico Universitario in Valladolid (Spain) and obtained a degree in Statistics from the Autonoma University in Barcelona. Afterwards, he performed his fellowship as Interventional Cardiologist in the Quebec Heart & Lung institute (Quebec, Canada). He obtained a "Río Hortega" contract for clinical research from the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Madrid, Spain) and within this period he obtained his PhD “Cum Laude” for his research focused on the percutaneous treatment of valvular heart disease that received the prize to best national PhD from the LAIR Foundation. Currently he works as interventional cardiologist in the Institute of Heart Sciences (ICICIOR) in Valladolid, Spain, and as research coordinator in invasive cardiology is mainly dedicated to the percutaneous management of heart failure, valvular disease, and complex coronary disease with more than 90 publications in these fields.
