Juan Manuel Fernández serves as Director of Arrhythmia Units of Quiron Sagrado Corazón, Quiron Infanta Luisa and HLA Santa Isabel Hospitals (Seville), and as Consultant Cardiologist in Arrhythmia and Pacing Unit of Hospital Juan Ramón Jimenez (Huelva).

He received his medical degree from the University of Seville, obtained the specialty of Intensive Care at the Juan Ramón Jimenez Hospital in Huelva, and obtained the specialty of cardiology from the Espirito Santo de Évora hospital. He is accredited by the Spanish Society of Cardiology for the practice of Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology, and certified by the European Heart Rhythm Association as Clinical and interventional Electrophysiology Specialist.

He has developed his work in several hospitals in Spain and Portugal, and has made multiple training stays in foreign centers such as Hôpital Cardiologique du Haut-Lévêque (Bordeaux), NYU Langone Medical Center. New York University (New York), John Radcliffe Hospital. (Oxford), St. Thomas Hospital (London), Cardiocenter Rhythmologie. Herzzentrum (Leipzig), Heart Lung Center. University Medical Center (Utrecht), Royal Bromptom Hospital (London), Rigshospitalet (Copenhagen), Cliniques Universitaires St. Luc. Univ. Catholique de Lovaine (Brussells), Hospital da Santa Cruz (Carnaxide-Lisboa) and Hospital de Santa Marta (Lisboa).

Dr. Fernández is a member of several scientific societies, has participated as principal investigator of several randomized clinical trials on cardiac stimulation and clinical and interventional electrophysiology, has more than 100 publications and participations in national and international congresses, as well as 15 research awards.

Dr. Fernandez and his group in “Huelva Arrhythmia Unit” have a large experience in his bundle pacing. They were one of the pioneer groups in the implementation of this technique and their researches have been published by the main medical journals in the last two decades. They are currently a Spanish and European reference center for the training of specialists in the technique of His bundle pacing.
